3 months agoWe stayed 2 nights at Spirit of Bhutan, Paro, and also 2 nights at Spirit of Bhutan, Punakha. Both places had the best view.
Both hotels has views of the Dzong. In Paro, Padi frields + Dzong view. In Punakha, River + Dzong.
Service and food were both very good! We had almost all meals - breakfast, lunch and dinner at the hotel, as I was travelling with elderly parents.
Clean hotel room, strong water pressure in the bathroom, spacious rooms, good view. A hotel you could stay in as well and feel relaxed after a day out.
This is a hotel run by a local Bhutanese family, and built with Bhutanese architecture in mind. They can also organise tours for you.
We would highly recommend staying at Spirit of Bhutan to experience warm Bhutanese local hospitality if you're planning on a 3-star stay in Bhutan.

5 months agoAfter being abroad for a couple of years, returning to Bhutan for my fieldwork was a massive undertaking. I spent my time at Spirit of Bhutan Resort in Paro, using it as my primary base while moving back and forth between my field sites and family time. It was the perfect sanctuary to return to after long days in the mountains.
The staff here are exceptional—truly generous, kind, and well-spoken. Their courtesy and professionalism made the logistical stress of fieldwork so much easier to manage.
After days in the field, having a large, comfortable space to organize gear and relax with my family was essential.
The rooms overlook the stunning mountains and majestic Paro Dzong, offering a sense of peace that’s hard to beat.
The meals were consistently delicious, exactly what you need to refuel after a demanding day.
The location is perfect for accessing both the town and the surrounding areas, all at walking distance.
Whether you're an academic researcher needing a reliable home base or a tourist looking for genuine Bhutanese hospitality, this is the spot. Highly recommended!

3 months agoI would have given 0 for this resort but no option. It is a perfect example for only beauty of place not being enough . If children are with you they don't even give food for them .
They are at back of you for simple things . It feels like a jail rather than a hotel. Never seen such stingy service in my whole life . Charging for everything .
If you want a peaceful stay in paro . Completely avoid this place

10 months agoI really enjoyed both of my stays at Spirit of Bhutan. The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful. They helped me connect with a great driver for my ride to Thimphu. The rooms were spacious and very comfortable, mine even had a nice outdoor area to sit. The setting is beautiful with the surrounding rice fields and mountains. WiFi was fast and reliable.

The staff were incredibly respectful, and the owner was exceptionally thoughtful and kind, making us feel truly welcome. The food was absolutely delicious, and the breathtaking view of Paro Dzong made the dining experience even more special. Highly recommended.
