Gawaling Hotel, Jangsa, Paro is a charming property situated along the river, offering breathtaking views of the valley and mountains. This hotel is an excellent choice for families or travelers seeking a peaceful retreat with direct access to the river. The rooms, though described as compact, are impeccably clean and feature large windows that frame the beautiful landscape perfectly. Guests consistently highlight the responsive and helpful staff, who handle every request promptly—a real plus when traveling with children. The on-site dining is a treat, with a menu that caters to diverse tastes, including excellent vegetarian Indian cuisine. While the hotel is slightly away from the main street, it remains walkable, and the quiet surroundings add to its appeal. Though some find the room sizes a bit small for the price, the location and service more than compensate. The hotel also handled a recent earthquake calmly, reassuring guests and showcasing their professionalism. For a comfortable stay with stunning views and genuine Bhutanese hospitality, this hotel is a solid choice.

The location is excellent — right by the river, with private access to it. Though slightly away from the main street, it is still comfortably walkable.
Rooms:
The rooms were quite small compared to the ones we had in Paro. In fact, the rooms at Namsay Choeling were easily 3–4 times larger. However, the rooms and bathrooms here were extremely clean, which was a big positive. The hotel is definitely on the expensive side, but they seem to charge a premium for the location.
Dinner:
We had dinner here on both nights. One evening had a completely Indian menu, while the other had more Chinese dishes due to a large group of Chinese guests staying there.
The vegetarian Indian food was excellent and very satisfying.
Breakfast:
Breakfast was fairly standard. We mostly stuck to fruits, cornflakes, and bread toast.
Overall:
The views were beautiful, and we even witnessed some stunning rainbows over the adjoining mountains. Overall, a lovely place to stay, though slightly expensive for the room sizes offered.

3 months agoStayed here for three nights as part of our Bhutan family trip and had a very pleasant experience. The room was good with a lovely river and valley view — a wonderful way to wake up every morning in Paro! The staff were prompt and responsive — every request was attended to immediately without follow ups, which is something you really appreciate when travelling with kids. We also experienced the recent Punakha earthquake during our stay — a scary moment for the family but thankfully nothing happened and the hotel structure held up well. The staff handled it calmly which helped keep everyone reassured. The breakfast spread on our checkout day was good and well laid out. Overall a comfortable and well managed hotel that we would happily recommend for families visiting Paro. Good value for money!

2 months agoThe hotel has a spacious clean room , but there is no latch for bathroom from outside. The bathroom door remains open always . The restaurant serves delicious food but the service is very very poor . Staffs don't refill the buffet items and always we need to wait for food . They don't maintain proper timings also . Only plus is the location and the view. Booked based on reviews but disappointing

3 months agoRooms are very small in size and have no fans only ac and without the ac the rooms becomes very stuffy. Problem is during night the ac keeps overheating and automatically keeps turning on and off every 5 mins.
Food is fine and you can tell I'm advance if you don't eat something they will make separate for you.
